The Rockies will attempt to avoid a second straight home sweep tonight as they close out a three games series with the Cardinals. Colorado currently has a seven game losing streak at Coors, a loss tonight would be the longest streak since the inaugural 1993 season. Alex White has been called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs to make his first MLB start since June 24th when he threw 78 pitches in 2 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits and four walks in a loss to Texas. White earned the promotion after giving up only one run in 15 innings over his last two starts in Triple-A, and takes Christian Friedrich’s spot in the rotation as Friedrich has been pushed back to Sunday with tightness in his lower back. 2012 All-Star Lance Lynn brings his 13-4 record and 3.42 ERA into the game for the Cardinals, Lynn faced the Rockies about a month ago, going 6 shutout innings with four hits, two walks and seven strikeouts in a 6-2 Cardinals victory in St. Louis, this will be the first time Lynn pitches at Coors Field.
Tyler Colvin leads off with Dexter Fowler batting third, this will be the 3rd time this season and the 8th time in his career starting in the third spot. Todd Helton returns to the line-up and Michael Cuddyer sits for the second straight game with a sore oblique. Carlos Gonzalez went 0-4 last night, snapping his 29 game home hitting streak.
