Rockies Lineup – July 27, 2012: Helton and Pomeranz Back

facebooktwitterreddit

The off-day seems to have done the Rockies some good, because both Todd Helton and Drew Pomeranz appear to be healed. Pomeranz reenters the rotation after dealing with sore biceps last week, and Helton’s off-and-on hip issues have quieted for now. It remains to be seen just how resolved Helton’s situation is, but he knows his own body well enough at this point that he doesn’t often come off the disabled list prematurely like some people (*cough* Troy Tulowitzki *cough*). One of the recent regulars was going to have to have a seat to make way for Helton, and the unlucky fellow is Tyler Colvin, who will hopefully make a pinch-hit appearance at some point. Also, somebody was going to have to be sent down in a roster move, and that person was, of course, Edwar Cabrera. Otherwise, it’s more or less business as usual for the Rox tonight.

As for Cincinnati, look out for Drew Stubbs, who went hitless against Milwaukee last weekend but then racked up 7 hits and 5 RBI in 3 games against Houston. And be glad Joey Votto is on the DL, because he hit .727 in the Reds’ first series with the Rockies this season. Pitcher Bronson Arroyo has only had one scoreless outing in his last 10, but that was a gem: a complete game 3-hit shut-out of the Padres. Seeing as how the Rockies have very recently dropped a series to the Padres, that could be the Arroyo we see tonight.
