In his MLB debut Christian Friedrich pitched one of the better outings from a Colorado starter this season and stopped a five games Rockies losing streak, beating the Padres 6-2. Friedrich will try and stop a three game losing streak as the Rockies are coming off a sweep at the hands of the Dodgers and find themselves at a seasons worst seven games under .500 and 9.5 games back of the division leading Dodgers. At 13-20 the Rockies are only ahead of the Padres in the National League and forth worst in all of baseball. Coming off a win against the Padres in Petco Park, Friedrich start in another pitcher friendly park against an offense that has struggled at times to score runs and will be without Pablo Sandoval who is on the disabled list with a broken hand. Ryan Vogelsong will start for the Giants, in his career he is 4-0 with a 1.78 ERA against the Rockies over nine games including four starts. He is 1-2 with a 2.94 ERA over 5 starts so far in 2012.

Troy Tulowitzki has been struggling batting .167 (3-18) in the five games on this current road trip and is 0-6 in hos career against Vogelsong. Carlos Gonzalez has fared no better as he is 0-8 all time against Vogelsong.
