Weekly Link Round-Up

Don’t be bored: read these great things written by people I like.
- Mark Townsend made some excellent observations in his recap of last Friday night’s win over the D-backs.
- I really like Josh Thole, and now I like him even more.
- I so do not like Brian Wilson and, while I do not ever wish injury on anyone, I have to admit I’m a tiny bit happy about this.
- MLB Trade Rumors says the Padres may want to wash their hands of Huston Street as early as midseason.
- Troy Renck reported on the optioning of Jordan Pacheco, whose bat was not enough to make up for his still-substandard glove.
- The Denver Post’s “From the Cheap Seats” feature isn’t often all that good, but this one talks about Spilly, and the accompanying photo is really good.
- Did you see the “triple play” the Dodgers turned last weekend? Pretty awesome, considering it mostly hinged on the misreading of an umpire’s hand signal.
- Colorado Rockies Prospect Report published a rundown of the best-performing hitters for the High-A Modesto Nuts.
- Purple Row’s Andrew Martin reflects on the Tyler Colvin-Ian Stewart trade, which makes Dan O’Dowd look pretty good considering how Colvin’s played so far.
- Further analysis of that Dodgers triple play by Fangraphs makes it even clearer that umpire Dale Scott was at fault.
- Andrew Fisher gives Brian Wilson some well-deserved comeuppance.
- Chris Jaffe at The Hardball Times takes a hard look at the “career” of our manager Jim Tracy.
- Chicken Friars’ Justin Hunter confirms that last Monday’s contest between the Rockies and Padres was by far Cory Luebke’s “best outing of the season.” How many times have we heard that? Insert so-so pitcher’s name here.
- David Schoenfield reflects on Jamie Moyer’s career … and uses the word “awesomeness” in the title of his article.
- Troy Tulowitzki, useless so far as a Rockie, apparently has a new purpose this season: restoring other teams’ “karmic balances.”
- Jack Moore of Fangraphs examined Jamie Moyer’s changeup and its role in his ability to, you know, still win games.
- You know, I was just in Cooperstown a few months ago, and one of the things I had to do while I was there was gripe about how underrepresented the Rockies are. So of course now Jamie Moyer’s stuff is there and I won’t even get to see it.
- I always gladly welcome an opportunity to snicker at Jose Canseco, and so should you.
- David Martin attempts to answer the burning question on all of our minds, which is what’s wrong with Tulo?
