The Rockies will try to hand the Padres their fifth straight loss tonight as two teams face off in their first match-up of 2012. San Diego comes in with a league worst 2-8 record while the Rockies are coming off their first series victory of the season, and come into tonight with a 4-5 record. Jeremy Guthrie will make his third start of the season, after pitching seven strong innings in the season opener, then getting lit up for six runs over 3 1/3 in his Coors Field debut against the Giants this past Wednesday. Cory Luebke comes in with a 0-1 record and a 5.40 ERA over two starts this season, but is coming off a solid performance giving up one run over 5 1/3 innings in a 2-1 Padres victory over the Diamondbacks in his last start.
For the Rockies Todd Helton is back at first after his regularly scheduled Sunday off and brings a .500 (4-8) career average against Luebke. Troy Tulowitzki has 3 hits in 10 at bats against Luebke including 2 home runs. Carlos Gonzalez will miss his 3rd straight game with strep throat, Tyler Colvin gets the start in his place.
