It was an especially productive week for your Rox Pile writers. Read on to see what we published!

Monday

The most recent installment in the Rockies Retread series featured a game from May 1993 that epitomized a particularly embarrassing road trip the Rockies took back then. Domination by other pitchers in the division is nothing new, you’ll find.

Hayden reported on the Rockies’ trade of Seth Smith to the Oakland A’s and cautioned that the trading probably wasn’t over yet. Turned out he was right.

Tuesday

I looked at the Rockies’ new starting catcher, Ramon Hernandez, and considered what he might bring to the table in 2012 and going forward.

Wednesday

I had one of my best days in a long time when I tripped up to Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this week. I wrote about my experience there and posted some crummy cell phone pictures that nonetheless tell the tale!

Thursday

I threw new acquisition DJ LeMahieu into the pile at second base and suggested some names for him that might be easier for the rest of us to spell.

Hayden and I collaborated with Scott Allen of Venom Strikes on a preview of the Rockies and Diamondbacks rivalry in 2012. Unfortunately, we should all prepare for the D-backs to come out strong.

Hayden reported on Jamie Moyer’s new minor league contract with the Rockies, and managed to make not one single joke about his age.

Friday

In the midst of the ongoing discussion about closers present and future for the Rockies, I plunged into the distant past and unearthed Bruce Ruffin as part of the Homegrown Homecoming series.

Continuing the closer conversation, Hayden looked at what Huston Street, Manny Corpas, and Brian Fuentes gave to us over the past several years and considered what Rafael Betancourt might bring to 2012 and beyond.

Hayden wrote the best farewell letter in recent memory and addressed it to Kevin Slowey.
