Today’s Matchup – August 9, 2011

On a night that saw seven combined home runs, the biggest hit last night at Great American Ball Park last night may have not been the appearance of rock legend Paul McCartney. It was the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies made a statement last night with four home runs, all being two-run shots. Todd Helton and Carlos Gonzalez both hit one homer each, but the story of the night was Seth Smith.

Smith hit two home runs, both with one man on. He was the key to the Rockies 10-7 win over the Reds. The Rockies have now was six straight over the Reds, and look to take at least two of three tonight with Esmil Rogers on the mound.
