Today’s Matchup – August 4, 2011

I’m not one for moral victories at all, but I guess “roughing up” Roy Halladay for 5 runs on 8 hits is acceptable. At the beginning of the game, when the Rockies actually led 2-1, a lot of Rockies fans though the team had a shot at beating the Phillies, especially when Ryan Howard attempted a behind-the-back glove flip when he really shouldn’t have attempted a behind-the-back glove flip. It led to two errors in one inning.
Then he came up to the plate later in the game when he really shouldn’t have come up to the plate.
That led to a two-run home run that put the Phillies up for good, sweeping the Rockies, and putting them below .500 at Coors Field.
So, all in all, a really sucky series at home. Hopefully the Rockies can go for broke against the Nationals.
Hey, a sweep would only leave them 5 games south of .500 and put them above average at home. Silver lining? I guess.
