Today’s Matchup – July 27th, 2011
Well, folks, with a loss tonight, the Rockies will be in fourth place and pretty much put the icing on the cake of one of the most disappointing seasons in team history, second only to 2008. Yes, the team will have over 50 games left, but with the acquisition of Carlos Beltran today by the San Francisco Giants (I can hear my friend Brian shouting for joy already), the NL West race looks all but locked up. Why? The Giants outfield without Beltran has 25 home runs. Beltran himself has 15. That is just one of many stats saying the Giants will win the NL West.
Huroki Kuroda makes what could be his final start in the Dodger Blue, as he takes the hill against Aaron Cook, who continues to struggle.
Trade rumors are continuing to swirl about Ubaldo Jimenez, with one reliable source saying that the chance of a deal going down is about 50/50. I don’t believe it, but that’s why they get paid the big bucks to hear these things. Watch for a writeup on the rumor mill coming tomorrow.
Promise.
Here are today’s lineups.
