Major League Baseball has cleared up an issue with Alex Rodriguez and his cousin, Yuri Sucart. Apparently, Sucart was seen at the team hotel with Rodriguez, and because of Sucart’s history with allegedly giving drugs to Rodriguez, Sucart was banned from team activities.

Joe Mauer “felt good” after catching three innings in an extended spring training game. Mauer went on the Disabled List almost two months ago due to soreness and weakness in his legs. He’s still committed to catching again for the Twins.

Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka will have Tommy John surgery on his right elbow and will miss the rest of the season. Matsuzaka has been on the Disabled List since May 18th.

Bad news, Cardinals fans. Matt Holliday, who’s among the National League leaders in hitting with a .342 average, will go on the Disabled List for 15 days because of a quadriceps strain. This is Holliday’s second significant quad strain. He went on the DL with Colorado back in 2008 due to the same injury. Kyle McClellan will also be put on the DL due to a strained hip flexor.
