May not be as much activity on the blog this weekend, so here’s a preview of the Rockies’ matchups this weekend.
The Rockies will finish off the Padres this weekend, looking to secure their first winning streak and series win of the month of May.
Saturday, May 14th
Game #37: Aaron Harang (5-2, 4.07 ERA) vs. Jhoulys Chacin (4-2, 2.68 ERA)
If the Rockies can settle in and hit Aaron Harang like they did Dustin Moseley on Friday, the team has a real chance to break out of their collective slump this weekend, and just in time before continuing on with a tougher May schedule.
Game #38: Mat Latos (0-5, 4.86 ERA) vs. Jason Hammel (3-2, 3.02 ERA)
Jason Hammel has been untouchable of late, and though he allowed four earned runs against the Mets on Tuesday night, he was dominant for most of the seven innings he pitched. Officially, he is listed as day-to-day because of the contusion on his calf suffered on a comebacker that was smoked right at his leg, but he was quoted as saying that he absolutely wouldn’t miss his next start. Bad news for a struggling Padres club, but good news for a Rockies team that looks ready to continue their offensive reawakening started on Friday night.
ROOT Sports will have the call on TV for both games this weekend, and 850 will broadcast the game on the radio. Watch RoxPile throughout the weekend for possible updates and breaking news as it happens. If you don’t hear anything this weekend, we’ll be back in full force on Monday for the next installment of Minor League Mondays.
