Tonight’s Matchup – May 10, 2011

The Rockies got a much-needed win last night over the New York Mets, and seem to be ready for round 2 tonight. They closed the clubhouse an hour before first pitch for a closed-door, team-only meeting trying to figure out how to correct their offensive woes. Ian Stewart and Ryan Spilborghs, both mired in terrible slumps, were out on the field before early Batting Practice this afternoon, trying to get some practice in. Troy Tulowitzki and Chris Iannetta were also out on the field working on their swing, showing that the team is serious about working their way out of the rough patch they find themselves in.

With the Giants off and the Dodgers losing last night to the Pirates, the Rockies put a little more distance between themselves and their competition in the NL West. The Rockies now stand a game and a half over San Francisco, four games over Arizona in second place, four and a half over Los Angeles in third place, and six over San Diego in fifth place, who the Rockies will welcome in for a three-game set starting Thursday night.

Here are the lineups for tonight’s game against the Mets.
