The Morning After – Rockies 9 Pirates 3

facebooktwitterreddit

This is exactly the type of game the Rox need to get things back on track.  Jimenez was dominant, the offense was rolling, and the Rockies cruised to an easy win.

Name

Ubaldo Jimenez – Ubaldo came through when the team needed a strong outing from a starter.  After the bullpen had a heavy workload yesterday, 7 strong innings from Ubaldo were just what the Rox needed.  He scattered 4 hits, and cruised after giving up a run in the first.  He caught Garret Jones at 2nd base to get out of trouble in the first inning on a perfect ‘daylight’ pickoff play with Tulowitzki.

Number

9 – The Rox scored 9 runs to prevent a 9 game losing skid.  This marks the first time the Rox have scored more than 4 runs in a game since a 10 run outburst against the Marlins on July 20th.

Noteworthy

Hit Show – The Rox went 15-37 at the plate for a .405 average on the day.  Every starter including Jimenez had at least one base hit, except for Ian Stewart.  Brad Hawpe and CarGo each hit their second homer of the series.  Hopefully the bats can stay hot through the rest of this home stand and the Rox can pick up a couple games on the rest of the division.
