Jeff Francis – Francis pitched 7 innings of three hit ball last night to shut down the Fish.  Francis threw first pitch strikes to 19 of the 23 batters he faced and didn’t walk a batter all evening.  He was essentially on cruise control, only giving up three singles and never allowing a Marlin to reach second base.  If Francis can maintain this form through the second half of the season, the Rox should cruise to a playoff spot.

18 – After a 10 run outburst on Tuesday night, the Rox have scored 18 runs in their last two games.  That’s a lot of offense from a team missing its everyday cleanup hitter.  The Rox hot bats will be tested over the next two games by two outstanding pitchers in Ricky Nolasco and Josh Johnson.

Noteworthy

Let’s see some Mora this – Melvin Mora went Beast Mode last night, going 3-5 with a double, a homer, and 5 RBIs.  Will Jim Tracy try to find more ABs for Mora in this series?  With CarGo a bit dinged up, we may see Mora in left field tomorrow night.
