Simon Castro Wasn’t Demoted Or Injured!

Okay ya’all! I have failed you. I sometimes forget that I am the only one around here, that is actually in Albuquerque AND that you folks really do care about your AAA team. I have a bunch of stuff to post in a weekend recap because I was out of town with Mother’s Day (HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS OUT THERE!) but I have been told there is one issue many of you are concerned with.

SIMON CASTRO IS FINE!

Isotopes Reliever, Simon Castro, PCL Pitcher of the Week, was ‘assigned’ to Short Season A Boise the day after winning the award which sent my mentions on twitter into a spin. He’s not hurt, he’s not getting demoted. He’ll probably be in the Topes dugout today, charting pitches.

Why? Because he pitched 3 innings a couple days ago and his arm is tired. The Topes played 17 innings the other day and have had the Rockies grabbing and sending players from the pitching staff for the big league teams’ needs. These have combined to deplete the Isotopes pitching staff.

In order to be able to field a team, the Isotopes utilized the unused roster of Single A Boise. Why Boise? Because not all minor leagues are created equal and Boise is part of a ‘short season single A’ league. Boise doesn’t have games until June. Castro isn’t going to Boise, he won’t pitch in Boise. Most likely I’ll see him in the clubhouse tonight.

I will try and get the weekend recap up later today. Real life work is getting in the way.

Unrelated:  Do you want to go to baseball games in Albuquerque for free? How about some free dinner to go with it? Want some quality pictures for your portfolio? I NEED A PHOTOGRAPHER.

I need a photographer for Isotopes games so I don’t have to use pictures of minor leaguers from their time with other teams, like above. I do not get paid to do this so I cannot pay you but you can get free baseball and free food in the press box, along with building up a professional portfolio. If you or someone you know is interested or needs more information, leave a message here, tweet me or email me.

Troy Olsen can be heard, talking Topes, every Friday around 5:35 p.m, on 610 KNML. Listen on tunein, IHeartRadio. the 610 Website along with many other places. Listen in and let me know what you think!
