Rockies Links: Trade Talk, Front Office, And Festivus
By Hayden Kane
Here are links from around the inter-webs to catch you up on the latest Colorado Rockies‘ news and analysis.
You might think that there isn’t much to say about nothing. By that, of course, we mean the nothingness that has been the Colorado Rockies’ off-season so far.

Any discussion of the moves made by the Rockies so far this winter is brief and it is depressing. Even still, there is plenty to discuss when it comes to the moves that the Rockies could make or where they stand with a new general manager in place. With that in mind, we bring you today’s Rockies links.
From Andrew Simon: Unfinished Business For 5 MLB Clubs (Sports On Earth)
"While it’s tempting to argue that the Rox should go ahead and move shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez for controllable talent, it’s also easy to understand why they haven’t. Both players are immensely talented faces of the franchise, yet expensive and carrying checkered injury histories, making it difficult for Colorado to attract a worthwhile return. At this point, it might be best to continue exercising patience, hope Tulo and CarGo get off to healthy and productive starts in ’15, then look to make a deal this summer if the team isn’t contending."
That is absolutely right, with one correction: they should look to make a deal for CarGo if he re-establishes his value, but they should keep Tulo unless some team makes an absolutely gaga offer for him. Otherwise, keeping Tulo is going to be the answer for the foreseeable future.
From Drew Creasman: Learning to trust the Colorado Rockies again (Purple Row)
"We need to learn to trust the Rockies again. Not to buy everything they sell, or honestly anything that they sell, but enough to send out that proverbial scout; to believe just enough in the intentions of Bridich and company not to dismiss everything they say or do out-of-hand."
This is a very fair point to be made. Baseball plans are long-term plans, especially for a team like the Rockies. Freaking out about Bridich as the general manager this winter is not a useful exercise and it really isn’t fair.
From Jake Shapiro: Rockies Festivus (Rockies Zingers)
"There are many grievances we can air at the Rockies right now about things that have happened over the past year. Number one is something that will be remembered for a long time among this fan base; sent from my IPad-gate. In July owner Dick Monfort called out our fan base who continue to support a team whose product has, at times, lacked in quality (to say the least). Even if the customer is not always right, there’s no reason to insult people who have been more than supportive."
This is an altogether enjoyable read, and if you missed it I encourage you to go back and read it.
