We have real baseball, or at least something a lot closer to it.

The Colorado Rockies play an inter-squad game this afternoon. This contest also gives us a chance to start the hype nice and early when it comes to Jonathan Gray and Eddie Butler, who will both pitch in the game. Soon we will get to look at new and old faces alike and how they should do in 2014.

One such familiar face is Rex Brothers, who is scheduled to make multiple appearances right away in Cactus League play. Meanwhile, some guys like Corey Dickerson have seemingly already received bad news and the calendar has not yet flipped to March. Lucky for him and a number of other players, there is still lots of time this spring for things to change.

Here’s what else is happening with the Rockies.

From Andrew Dill: Colorado Rockies 2014 Schedule and Important Dates (Mile High Maniac)

"Spring Training games are just around the corner for the Colorado Rockies which brings the focus to their 2014 schedule and important dates. The Rockies will open up their first Spring Training game this Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 1:10 PM MT.”"

From Michael McFarlane: Colorado Rockies 2014 season preview (Call to the Pen)

"The Colorado Rockies have some good players. This is something that tends to get lost sometimes in the rest of the baseball universe, amidst dismissals of their players’ talents due to their beneficial hitting environment and their lackluster records of late, it can be easy for baseball fans to forget that the Colorado Rockies have some mighty fine baseball players. This shows up, every now and then, when the Rockies ‘defy expectations’ by playing well."
