Yorvit Torrealba Is Officially Back; Carl Pavano Not An Option

For how long, we do not know. Nevertheless, Yorvit Torrealba is back in the fold for the Colorado Rockies.

As Troy Renck of the Denver Post points out, this provides protection for the Rockies if Ramon Hernandez runs into more injury struggles. Let’s face it; Hernandez couldn’t stay on the field in 2012 and he is participating in the World Baseball Classic. If recent history is any indication, there is a good chance Hernandez will be injured again before he even puts back on his Rockies uniform in 2013. Torrealba brings some good times vibes from his Rockies past and he can be another mentor for Wilin Rosario. Neither of those can be bad things, right?

In other news from the luke warm stove, the Rockies are officially out on Carl Pavano. I’m going to hold off on the snark here, because later today it was revealed that Pavano has a ruptured spleen and will be out 6-8 weeks. The team will have to look elsewhere for pitching depth, which is not a bad thing.
