Colorado Rockies at Atlanta Braves, 12:10 P.M. MT

The Colorado Rockies, complete with their hot young hitters and their wildly successful paired pitching piggyback experiment thing, hit the road today with hopes to continue their winning ways. If there is a true opportunity for them to play spoiler it might be against the wild card leading Braves. It will be no easy task, as Atlanta will be riding hot starting pitching and the good vibes of a walk-off moment from their loud mouthed future Hall of Famer Chipper Jones in an unlikely comeback win yesterday.

Dexter Fowler CF
Josh Rutledge SS
Carlos Gonzalez LF
Wilin Rosario C
Jordan Pacheco 1B
Tyler Colvin RF
Chris Nelson 3B
DJ LeMahieu 2B
Tyler Chatwood P

As far as recent games have gone, this is the Rockies’ best lineup. They will have their work cut out for them against Kris Medlen, who has been borderline unhittable since becoming a starter, going 5-0 with a 0.66 ERA. Here is the Braves lineup that will back Medlen:

Michael Bourn CF
Jose Constanza LF
Jason Heyward RF
Freddie Freeman 1B
Martin Prado 2B
Juan Francisco 3B
David Ross C
Paul Janish SS
Kris Medlen P

After I took a shot at Chipper in the opener of this article, he isn’t even in the lineup. He still deserved it though; first he bashed CarGo and questioned his MVP candidacy, and second he talked about fighting Jamie Moyer in an alley. I understand he is enjoying a triumphant farewell tour…I just wish he wasn’t such a punk to the Rockies.

I suggest that Tyler Chatwood, as he tries to level out some inconsistencies, just walk Freddie Freeman every time he comes to the plate. No questions asked. Come to think of it, can we just put him on first high school baseball style? You know, where the coach just points to first base and you put him on, no pitches thrown? No fuss, no problem, just put the guy on first base. It doesn’t hurt to ask, right?
