Fresh off completing their second series sweep of 2012, Colorado opens a four game series against the Marlins at Coors Field tonight. Alex White will make his fourth start since re-joining the rotation and has shown signs of improvement with a 3.38 ERA while allowing eight walks and striking out eight over 13 1/3 innings with the Rockies winning two out of those three games. Overall White is 2-6 with a 5.82 ERA in 2012, with one of his two wins coming against the Marlins earlier in May. Ricky Nolasco will start for the Marlins who are in last place in the N.L. east and have lost five of their last seven games. Nolasco is 9-11 with a 4.90 ERA in 2012 and is 6-1 with a 4.62 ERA against the Rockies in his career with a 3-1 record and a 5.40 ERA over four starts in Denver.

Eric Young, Jr. continues to tear it up since getting the starting job, he is batting .488 over his last 9 games with 3 home runs, 11 runs scored and a 1.303 OPS. Michael Cuddyer starts after being activated from the DL today, he had been out since July 31.

Carlos Lee has seen Alex White the most of the current Marlins, and is 4-8 with 2 doubles and a home run in his career. Giancarlo “Don’t call me Mike” Stanton returns to Coors for the first time since 2011 when he went 4-11 with 3 home runs and a double in 3 games last season.
