The Rockies will close out a four game series in St. Louis with a chance to split the series with reigning World Series Champion Cardinals. Christian Friedrich starts for Colorado entering the game with a 4-5 record and a 5.52 ERA. Friedrich has lost his last four decisions and the Rockies have lost the last five games he has started. In his last start Friedrich was in line for the win leaving after five innings with a 2-1 lead, but the Rockies ended up losing the game 8-4 to the Padres. Lance Lynn, who was named to the 2012 N.L. All-Star team, will start for the Cardinals, Lynn is currently tied for 3rd in the National League with 10 wins, but has struggled in his last three starts going 0-2 with an ERA of 9.98 over 15 1/3 innings raising his seasons ERA to 5.52.

Tonight is game number 82 for the Rockies, meaning that the season is officially half over, with a record of 31-50 Colorado is on pace to finish 62-100, which would be the worst record in franchise history, breaking previous lows of 67-95 set in the inaugural season of 1993 and matched again in 2005.

Michael Cuddyer returns to the line-up starting at first in place of Todd Helton. Carlos Gonzalez currently has a 12 game hitting streak, he is batting .383 over the streak, but has not hit a home run since June 15.
