Josh Outman continues his quest for win number one of 2012 in a day game closing out the series with the Nationals today. Outman is 0-3 with a 8.64 ERA, and is 0-2 with a 8.41 ERA over five starts. He showed promise in his first start, shutting out the Dodgers for 3 1/3 innings, but has given up 19 runs over 17 innings in his last 4 four, including being removed with two outs in the fifth inning with an 11-2 lead in a Rockies victory of the Rangers in his last start. Outman is part of a Rockies rotation that has gone 13-35 with a 6.46 ERA in 2012, no Rockies starter has recorded a win since June 4th, and the rotation is 0-14 with an ERA over nine since that win. Edwin Jackson takes the mound for the Nationals, Jackson is 4-4 on the season with a 2.91 ERA and is 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA this month, but has struggled at Coors in the past, giving up 21 runs over 12 innings spanning 3 starts, most recently giving up 10 runs on 11 hits over 2 1/3 innings in a 12-1 Rockies win over the Diamondbacks.

Several Rockies hitters have had success against Jackson, Todd Helton is 5-12 (.417), Marco Scutaro is 6-20 (.300) with 2 home runs, Michael Cuddyer is 5-9 (.556) and Carlos Gonzalez is 3-5 (.600). Dexter Fowler comes in with a 8 game hitting streak while Cargo has a 16 game home hitting streak in which he is hitting .449 with 7 home runs and 16 RBI.
