Rockies Lineup – June 23, 2012: Defensive B Team

If I were Jim Tracy, I’d give every single one of my regulars this entire series off, because it’s a lost cause and why not give them a little rest in the midst of three straight weeks without a break from baseball. I’m not sure of his reasoning, but he is kind of doing that today. At the very least, the shuffling in the field will no doubt result in even worse defense than usual. And, as Logan Burdine wrote this morning at SweetSpot, it was already pretty bad.

So who’s on 1st? Michael Cuddyer! Who’s on 2nd? Chris Nelson! Who’s at short? Jonathan Herrera! Who’s at 3rd? Jordan Pacheco! Oy vey.

On a 75-pitch limit today will be Josh Outman, who lasted well into the 4th inning the last time he was put on that length of leash. I hope Jeremy Guthrie is ready to face this Rangers lineup. At least he’s not starting. Texas sends Colby Lewis to the hill, not an ace, but a good pitcher who will probably find the 7-run cushion he gets more than enough.
