Rockies Line-up, April 17 2012: Cargo – The Return

Jamie Moyer has to hope that the third time’s a charm tonight as he gets his third attempt at his first win of 2012 and becoming the oldest major leaguer to win a game. He has pitched better than his 0-2 record would indicate as the Rockies have scored a total of five runs while committing five errors in the two games Moyer has started. This will be the 20th career start for Moyer against the Padres, including his second career victory in 1986 as well as his last complete game in a 6-2 win in June of 2010. Also of note for the Rockies, Tyler Chatwood has been sent to AAA Colorado Springs with Edgmer Escalona added to the the Rockies bullpen for tonight’s game.

Anthony Bass will make his 5th career start and 31st career major league appearance tonight. Bass made the Padres roster as a reliever, but is making his second start filling in for the injured Dustin Moseley. Both of his two career MLB victories have come against the Rockies, and Bass has only given up one run over 13 innings against Colorado, including two starts.

Carlos Gonzalez makes his return to the line-up after missing the last three games with strep throat. Chris Nelson will look to continue feasting on Padres pitching, with his two hits last night he brings a .378 career average against San Diego. The rest of the line-up below:
