Stuff to read.

  • David Martin of Rockies Review made a case for Jamie Moyer and defends the decision to slot him into the starting rotation.
  • Call to the Pen’s Matt Musico previewed the National League West and determined that the Rockies’ storyline to watch is Jim Tracy and his indefinite contract extension.
  • I’m so tired of the Ubaldo-Tulo mud slinging, but if you really care about that still, here’s a video of Tulo talking about last Sunday’s hit-by-pitch incident.
  • Are we STILL talking about Ubaldo? Of course we are. Chris Cwik of Fangraphs broke down the five-game suspension Ubaldo received and actually reveals complete and total ignorance about what created the situation in the first place.
  • Purple Row’s Andrew Fisher looks at the Cargo/Tulo contracts in light of all the money the rest of the division threw around this week. Dan O’Dowd comes out looking pretty good.
  • David Schoenfield did something really rare this week: he actually WROTE A LENGTHY POST (as opposed to leaving the bulk of the work to his SweetSpot writers or random fans he polled). Behold his 100 reasons to “get excited about MLB.” I’m not really sure what this phrase means, but I do notice that the only reference to the Rockies on this list is Jamie Moyer who actually lands at #3.
  • Mark Townsend gave us an extensive and far more interesting set of predictions than anybody else I’ve seen on this vast sea of opinions known as the internet.
  • Question: 2o years from now, will Troy Tulowitzki be an owner and Ubaldo Jimenez a manager? And will they hug like Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura did yesterday?
