Today’s Matchup – September 7, 2011

A bit of news from LoDo today – outfielder Ryan Spilborghs and infielder Jonathan Herrera are likely to miss the rest of the season, the club announced today. Spilborghs injured his hurt right foot while making a play on Monday, and Herrera fractured his right index and pinky fingers after having them slammed in a door. Surgery won’t be required for either of the players, to which manager Jim Tracy said “We dodged a bullet.”

If you ask me, other than the seven-run seventh inning yesterday, the highlight of the win last night was definitely third baseman Jordan Pacheco. He had his first two Major League hits and his first Major League RBI yesterday in an impressive debut. Catcher Wilin Rosario also nearly drove one over the center field wall in his first at-bat. Both are in the starting lineup again today.
