Today’s Matchup – May 25, 2011

Expect a pitchers’ duel today. The Rockies send Jason Hammel to the hill to pitch today, and Hammel has impressed so far in 2011. They face the ace of the Diamondbacks staff Ian Kennedy, who has impressed so far in 2011.

Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will get his first day off of 2011, getting a “mental day” to relax, according to the Denver Post’s Troy Renck.

Most of the Rockies news today can be found in older posts – Here’s a post on moves the Rockies have made today and here is a post on how much the DLR injury affects the Rockies and what the rotation may look like from here on out.

Starting today, however, the Rockies absolutely have to put the injury in their rearview mirror and move on. They can’t change anything, but they can make the rest of their season mean something – and it all starts today.

Game #48 – Ian Kennedy (5-1, 3.24 ERA) vs. Jason Hammel (3-3, 3.59 ERA)
