Right now, everything the Rockies touch turns to gold.  Last night, Jhoulys Chacin dominated the Cubs in a complete game shut-out.  It was the first complete game shut-out at Coors Field in more than two years.  Obviously, Chacin has been very exciting this year.  He’s now 3-0 and is well on his way to becoming one of the NL’s better starting pitchers.

When the Rockies are going like they are currently, it feels like nothing will ever go wrong.  But, it’s important to remember that there will be adversity this year and that’s a good thing.  Adversity builds character.  Inevitably, injuries will happen.  You just hope they aren’t severe.  This team will be very good, but whether or not they’re great depends on how they deal with those tough moments, like if Cargo pulls a hamstring or they get swept by a division rival.  The Rox seem to have the mental fortitude to handle everything the season will throw at them, but only time will tell.  One thing is for certain, it is becoming very difficult for me to temper my excitement.

Dating back to the first inning of the spring’s first exhibition game, Ian Stewart is having a very tough year Stewart needs at-bats to find his timing, but the Rockies can’t afford to wait on him.  Nor can they afford to remove players like Jonathan Herrera from the lineup.  Tracy will have to pick and choose matchups for Ian, and, hopefully, that will help him slowly climb out of this hole. I don’t think we need to be talking about a trip to the minors — yet.

The Red Sox committed $154M to Adrian Gonzalez and then dropped another game, making them 2-10 on the season.  Supposedly, Boston is loaded this season and most think they will turn things around.  However, I don’t see it.  I think their talent is vastly overrated.

It looks like Lenny Dykstra is finally headed to jail. As a youngster, Nails was one of my favorite players.  He always went full tilt and was one of the toughest to ever play.  Of course, I had no idea that he was a complete and total dirt-bag.  Now, I kind of loathe him and everything he stands for.  However, I have to admit, Nails and I do have one thing in common.  We both think Twizzlers are just the berries!
