Not so Rockie Road: Street MRI comes back negative…
By Editorial Staff
Huston Street and the Colorado Rockies, gripping over the prospect of a lost season, received encouraging news today on the closer’s shoulder.
No significant damage was revealed from an MRI taken earlier this week. However, Street, 26, is experiencing inflammation in his throwing shoulder and may be riding pine for the start of the season.
“It’s as good a news as we could’ve hoped for,” Street said. “No structural damage…” Street went on you say his immediate plans are to build back up and try to limit additional flare-ups.
After shaky performances in April of 2009, Street was demoted in favor of Manny Corpas, but regained the closer position a few weeks later. Street finished the season saving 34 of 36 games, helping the Rockies reach the postseason.
Despite collapsing in game four of the 2009 NLDS, allowing the Phillies to close out the Rockies, Street was rewarded with a three-year, $22.5 million deal in the off season.
