Beer, Brothels and Baseball…and Huston Street may miss season.

Huston Street, according to sources, is most likely going to start the season on the DL due to shoulder tightness sustained during a casual Monday workout, but more on that later…

Since this is my first post as a RoxPile.com contributor, I feel compelled to clarify a few things about me, and to set the stage for what you may expect from my reports, ramblings and rants…for those of you who actually care.  For those of you who don’t care, avoid eye contact with your co-workers, pretend like you’re working, and scroll down to the last paragraph of this post.

A)     The name The Bear Flag, my pen name for this site, is a fictional brothel in the John Steinbeck novel Cannery Row.   I loved Steinbeck growing up, almost as much as baseball, so I’ve decided, as a tribute, The Bear Flag will be my pseudonym for this site.  By the way, if you haven’t read Cannery Row I highly recommend you head to your local public library and pick it up.  (Note:  I do not condone or frequent brothels, not that I’m judging anyone who does.  Just saying)

B)      I’m not a Rockies fan; I don’t have any real connection to the Denver area, other than my friend Todd, a resident of Denver.  Although, I have attended one game at Coors Field, an unbelievable ballpark in one of the great cities in the U.S. and, most important, I love Coors Light.

C)      The editors of this site discourage censorship, within reason, and encourage writers to freely express their opinions.  This, alone, is what makes fansided.com & roxpile.com the single greatest sports information site on the internet.

With that said, I’m going to cover the Rockies without bias, and I’ll call it like I see it…for better or worse.   If you don’t like my opinion, feel free to bash me with everything you have.  Believe me, the rejection will not hurt my feelings…I’m used to it.

Back to the Rockies and Huston Street…
